President Tony AtkinWelcome to our website, I'm Club President Tony Atkin.  I hope you will find our site interesting and informative and will encourage you to find out more about us and what we get out of Rotary. Our Club is one of over 1850 clubs in Great Britain and Ireland and 33,000 worldwide whose members volunteer their time, expertise, energy and passion in order to give something back and help improve the lives of others and at the same time enjoy the company and fellowship of like-minded friends. We are very caring people but whatever we do the golden rule is, it must be fun!

We would very much like to hear from people who feel they share our ideals so if you would like to find out more about Rotary just click the Contacts tab to get in touch with us. We have two fundraising events during February; first one which has become a regular in our calendar, the Bridge Day at Tickton Grange Hotel on the13th, once again organised by Helen Barr of Barr-None Bridge Club. Many thanks once again Helen.

Ti Amero after the 2011 concertThen on 24th February we have a joint event with Hornsea Rotary Club, the second year for our charity concert 'Music for Everyone', once again featuring Hull classical pop quartet Ti Amero supported by some excellent local talent. We have pianist and raconteur John Murray and The Aston Ensemble with noted singer Beatrice Augusta, young country singer Danielle Scruton and some very talented young musicians from Longcroft who will be performing classical pieces. The show is already a sell-out and if last year's is anything to go by no one is likely to go away disappointed. Charities supported are the Teenage and Young Adults Cancer Unit and CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). Organiser Mac Fleming is shown with Ti Amero after last year's concert. Co-organiser John Gosnold of Hornsea club will once again compere the show.

We have a number of other events planned for 2012 to support these and other local charities and will also be maintaining our focus on helping young people through local groups and our involvement with our schools. One school we Leon Myers receiving a donationhave been particularly involved with for a number of years is Swinemoor primary through members mentoring and helping children with reading, financial support and with events such as Kids Out an annual day out for children who for one reason or another do not often receive the treats most others enjoy. Last year they enjoyed a day at Sewerby Hall. Recently we made a donation to the school for books and headmaster Leon Myers is shown receiving our cheque at a recent club meeting.
